Why should you be Authentic?

What is authenticity? Being truly your own self is authenticity, Not a copy or a duplicate but being in your natural state of being. It's hard to find people who reveal their authentic selves in the first meeting. People wear masks with heavy armors and resist showing their authentic selves. They tend to be authentic only to their loved ones.

Being authentic doesn't mean being vulnerable. There is this common misconception that “people hurt when you are authentic, and it's better to not show the real you”. Maybe it could be true depending on the surroundings you are in. But it should not become your natural state to be not authentic.

Why is it important, though?

If you can be good at anything, it would be to be yourself. You don't have to mimic others or compare others. By expressing what you feel and what is running in your mind, your mind, words, and actions are aligned perfectly.

Many individuals face this problem; their minds think differently from what they say and do. When there is misalignment, you confuse the body. There begins stress when this is not aligned. This problem occurs in marriage life due to a lack of communication. The husband or wife would think differently from what they verbally communicate and act.

This cannot be sustained for a long period. The piled-up stress breaks out one day and would mess up the relationship. When you are authentic, you let the other person know your likes and dislikes, based on the which the other person would act accordingly. Don't expect people to mind read you; what you show to the outside world is how you will be treated.

The biggest lesson I learned when I became an educator was the power of authenticity. You will know if you have read my books or listened to my podcast. I try to be as authentic as possible Because when I try to mimic or act like someone else, I mess it up.

I hope I was authentic enough in this post. Thanks for reading, I would encourage you to subscribe to my newsletter.
